Okay, I'll just get this out of the way first. If you have read my other posts, you'll know I don't like long episodes. And this era has those in abundance...
So to start, the worst. Season 7. All but 1 episode is 7 parts. And I hated it. Spearhead was brilliant, and Inferno was, surprisingly good. But Silurians and Ambassadors. I hated these episodes. They felt dragged out and overly long. It wasn't needed. For some reason, even from first viewing many years ago, I've always hated The Silurians. Its just dull. The Mutants is another overly long episode, and that's mind numbingly boring. |
Okay, forget it. I'm just going to say it. I personally feel that almost all of the 3rd Doctor stories are too long. I just couldn't sit through them.
Having said that, I loved many of them. The first 3 episodes of Season 8 (Terror of the Autons, Mind of Evil, Claws of Axos) were absolutely brilliant. They did not drag and made good watching. Every episode of Season 10 was fantastic. This was my favourite Season of this era. And stories such as The Time Warrior and Death to the Daleks also stood out (even with the dodgy music in DTTD). |
So there we have it. Did I enjoy this era? Honestly, no. I know this is controversial, as Doctor no 3 is very popular, but many stories just felt too long. But there were many gems, and Season 10 was brilliant. So next up is my favourite Doctor, Tom Baker. And with 178 epsiodes, its going to take awhile.
But until then,
See Ya!
