This week, the Doctor went undercover as The Caretaker, to save Coal Hill School from an alien menace. This is another one of those episodes where the Doctor. The Doctor did have some humorous moments in this episode such as his broom, and deep cover coat. His dislike of soldiers is apparent also, as he frequently calls Danny a PE teacher, insinuating that sport is all he can do. |
The pre-title sequence was brilliant as it gave us a sweaty Jenna Coleman. It also showed us how Clara is struggling to keep both lives separate. The Doctor whisking her off to an alien planet at the start was good as the rest of the episode is set on earth. Samuel Anderson was given a lot more to do this episode, especially now he knows about the Doctor. The use of the invisibility watch to get into the TARDIS, and then standing up to the Doctor was great, but the front flip at the end was just stupid in my opinion. |
The enemy in this episode was Scovox Blitzer. It’s introduction was fantastic, with lots of suspense. The burnt hand of the policeman victim was a dark turn, but looked good. I did feel that Scovox was dreadfully underused, and was just there as an excuse for the Doctor to go undercover…which it was. The way it was defeated was underwhelming, but it was an excuse for the Doctor to use a Proton Pack! I really hope we see him against so he can be a bit more menacing. |
We see Heaven and Missy again is a short scene, which also included Chris Addison. This was great and added a lot of mystery, and I am intrigued to know just what happens. However, like many, I was extremely disappointed by the lack of any references to older episode. I think a small cameo from William Russell would have been brilliant, but alas, it was not to be. |
Overall, I felt the episode was a bit of a let-down. The episode started to get boring at the end and was too easily solved. Scovox was underused, and I really wish there was more references to the classic episodes. I feel it just didn’t live up to the hype. Anyway, next time we are heading to the Moon.
Until then,
See Ya!
