On Friday the 27th of February, Nimoy passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 83. he died of end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease according to his son, Adam. This was related to a smoking habit that was stopped 30 years ago. Leonard Nimoy appeared in many films such as Them! and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, directed many films including Star Trek and created the comedy Three Men and a Baby. However, he was definitely most well known for playing Mr Spock in Star Trek. He appeared throughout the Original Series from 1966 to 1969 and going on to appear in 6 of the 10 Star Trek movies and then in both the JJ Abram's reboots. His final role was Spock Prime in Star Trek: Into Darkness. As a big fan of Star Trek, which inspired the name of this blog, I was saddened to hear of his passing, like many others around the world. Tributes have flooded in for the actor, including some from NASA and Star Trek co-stars William Shatner and George Takei. |
Rest In Peace Leonard Nimoy
